Shopify recommends square product images so they display consistently across every theme and collection grid. Here's how to hit the exact size.
Inconsistent product photo sizes are one of the most common reasons a Shopify store's collection pages look sloppy — some products appear zoomed in, others look tiny, depending on each image's original dimensions. Standardizing every product photo to 2048×2048 before upload fixes this at the source.
Open Squeezr and drop in your product photo.
Turn on Resize, unlock the aspect-ratio lock, and set width and height to 2048 × 2048.
Choose Fit mode if your product shot has empty space around it already (common for studio product photography on a plain background), or Crop if the product fills the frame.
Export as JPG at 85% quality — a good balance for product photography.
Repeat for your whole catalog, or drop in the entire batch at once and download as a .zip.
Skip the manual math — open Squeezr with this preset already dialed in.
Open Squeezr preset to 2048×2048 →A square ratio means every product tile in a collection grid lines up evenly regardless of theme. 2048×2048 is large enough that Shopify's built-in zoom feature has real detail to zoom into, without being so large that page load times suffer — Shopify serves responsively-sized versions automatically once you upload at this size.
If you're resizing product photos for dozens or hundreds of SKUs, drop the whole folder into Squeezr at once. Each image gets resized and compressed independently using its own original proportions, and you can download everything together as a single zip file — much faster than opening each photo individually in a design tool.
