Pick the right container, not just a smaller number

Resizing shrinks the pixel grid. Compression shrinks how precisely each pixel is stored. The format decides how efficiently those pixels get packed — you generally want all three working together.

JPG
Best for photos with lots of colour and no sharp edges. Smallest files at a given quality, but no transparency.
PNG
Best for screenshots, logos, and anything with flat colour or transparency. Larger files, zero quality loss.
WebP
Usually the smallest of the three at matching quality, and it supports transparency too. Ideal default for the web.
How it works

Four steps. No sign-up.

1

Drop your images

Drag a batch in, or click the dropzone to pick files. Squeezr reads them straight into memory — nothing leaves your device.

2

Set a size

Flip on Resize and enter an exact width/height or a percentage. Lock the aspect ratio, or set both dimensions and choose Fit, Crop or Stretch.

3

Dial in quality & format

Slide to trade size for fidelity, and choose whether to keep the original format or convert to JPG, PNG or WebP.

4

Download

Grab files one at a time or zip up the whole batch. Each one shows its new dimensions and exactly how much weight it lost.

Why Squeezr

Built to be the tool, not the middleman

No account, no watched folder, no image quietly sitting on a server somewhere.

Real resize control

Exact pixels or a percentage, aspect ratio locked or free, with Fit, Crop or Stretch when the target shape doesn't match the original.

Private by construction

Resizing and compression both run in your browser's own canvas engine. There's no upload step for us to log, store, or lose.

Batch by default

Drop in one image or two hundred. Every file gets its own resize and quality pass, with its own before/after readout.

Convert, not just compress

Switch a whole batch to WebP, or flatten PNGs to JPG, in the same pass as the resize and the size reduction.

FAQ

Good to know

Do my images get uploaded anywhere?

No. Squeezr resizes and compresses images using your browser's built-in canvas engine. The file is read into memory, redrawn at the new size, re-encoded, and offered back to you as a download — it never travels over the network.

How does resizing work with a batch of different-sized images?

If you set a pixel width with the aspect ratio locked, each image is scaled to that width and its own height is calculated to preserve that specific image's proportions — so a portrait and a landscape photo in the same batch both come out correctly, just at the same width. Percent mode always scales each image relative to its own original size.

What's the difference between Fit, Crop and Stretch?

These only matter when you unlock the aspect ratio and set an exact width and height that don't match the image's natural proportions. Fit shrinks the image to stay entirely inside that box, adding padding if needed. Crop fills the box completely, trimming whatever overflows. Stretch forces the image to exactly those dimensions, distorting it if the proportions differ.

Will compressing or resizing lose quality?

Shrinking dimensions is generally safe — a smaller image needs less detail to look sharp. JPG and WebP compression is "lossy," so the quality slider controls how much detail gets discarded on top of that. PNG output stays lossless regardless of quality setting.

Is there a file size or batch limit?

No hard limit — it's bounded by your own device's memory, not by us. Very large batches (hundreds of high-resolution images) may take a moment to process since it's all happening locally.

Which format should I pick?

For photos, JPG or WebP. For screenshots, graphics, or anything needing a transparent background, PNG or WebP. If you're not sure, WebP is the safest general-purpose default for the modern web.

Is Squeezr really free?

Yes — no account, no subscription, no watermark. The site may show ads to keep the lights on, but the tool itself has no paywall.
