YouTube Profile Picture Size: 800×800

YouTube displays your channel photo as a circle as small as 88px, but you should still upload it large for crispness across every placement.

800 × 800
YouTube's recommended channel photo upload size, a perfect square. It's shown as a circle everywhere on the platform, from 88px in comments up to larger sizes on your channel page.

Because your YouTube profile photo appears at wildly different sizes — tiny next to comments, larger on your channel header — uploading a properly-sized square from the start keeps it sharp everywhere instead of looking pixelated in the bigger placements.

Step by step

Open Squeezr and drop in your photo or logo.

Turn on Resize, unlock the aspect-ratio lock, and set width and height to 800 × 800.

Choose Crop mode so the full square fills the frame — remember it displays as a circle, so keep your subject centered and avoid important details in the corners.

Export as JPG or PNG at 85–90% quality.

Upload it as your channel photo in YouTube Studio.

Skip the manual math — open Squeezr with this preset already dialed in.

Why 800×800 and not smaller?

YouTube shows your channel photo at its largest on your channel page itself, and 800×800 keeps that crisp on high-density displays. Since it's just one upload used everywhere, sizing generously up front avoids a soft, pixelated look in the largest placement.

Remember: it's cropped into a circle

Since the square you upload gets displayed as a circle everywhere on YouTube, the corners of your image are effectively invisible. Keep your logo, face, or any important detail well within the center of the frame rather than close to the edges.
